Frequently asked questions

What is the price range of your gowns?

Camellia carries dresses that range from $1000-2500. We don't think you need to spend an arm and a leg to have wonderful service AND a gorgeous gown! Lillian West, Adore, DaVinci Bridal, Amore Novias, Innocentia, Carrafina, Michelle Bridal and Camellia's Private Label range from $1000- 2500. The average price of our gowns is $1300-1500. We also have a rack of sample dresses that range from $200 to $800 for immediate take home!

When should I arrive?

We ask that you arrive on time for your appointment. We usually have appointments before and immediately following your appointment so if you arrive early or late, we may not have any one to help you.

How long is my appointment?

We reserve an hour and a half of time for you to have your own individual appointment. While at Camellia you and your group will work one on one with a bridal stylist so we can focus all our attention on helping you.

When should I order my wedding dress?

Your dress from Lillian West By Justin Alexander, Adore by Justin Alexander, Sophia Thomas, Innocentia, Icon and our private label Camellia line can take up to six months to produce. When you factor in shipping and alterations, it could be a nine month total process. We suggest deciding on a dress six to nine months prior to your wedding date, so you have time built in for fittings and accessorizing. We also carry DaVinci Bridal, which is not only renowned for their beautifully-crafted wedding gowns, exceptional value, and affordable luxury, they are also famous for their unsurpassed ultra quick delivery. With DaVinci, you can get your dream gown in a matter of just a couple weeks or even sooner!

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Take some time to look through magazines and websites so you have a general idea of what you prefer in a wedding dress. This will help us get started in the selection process, although your stylist may also have some recommendations that you will love. It is helpful to bring undergarments of similar styles that you will wear on your wedding day, including nude or white underwear. You can wear a strapless bra or no bra- wedding gowns do not need them, so that is up to your comfort level. You MUST have on underwear (panties) to try on gowns.

Should I bring heels?

No, we require you to take off your shoes when trying on dresses.

Will I need alterations?

We like to order the dress as close to your current size as possible, but all bridal gowns need alterations to give it a perfect fit for your wedding day, plus you'll want a bustle. We recommend three woderful alterations specialists: Savannah- Adrienne- www.stitchsavannah.com Rincon- Aleida Haymes- 912-667-1341 Facebook: Aleida's Embroidery and Alterations Pooler- www.trishbstylin.com, 912-239-7440 (Trish is on maternity leave but her associate Macy is doing alterations.) You should budget $250-600 for alterations, although it could be more or less depending on your dress.

Do you have plus size samples?

We do sell plus size dresses- we love to accommodate as many beautiful body types as possible with our sample dresses. We have a nice selection of plus-size dresses for our curvy girls- in fact, more than any other bridal shop in Savannah! Since our samples will not be an exact fit for most, we use clips to help you invision your perfect size. If you would like to speak to someone about what we have in your size, please send us an email or call.

How many people should I bring with me?

On Saturdays, we can only allow you to bring 5 people at the most with you, so that we can make every comfortable. Besides, we have found that the opinions of a trusted few always make for an easier decision for you! For weekday appointments, you may bring up to 7.

What is bridal sizing?

Bridal sizing is vintage sizing. Your bridal size will more than likely be two sizes larger then your current vanity size. If you wear a size 10 in regular clothing for example you will be a bridal size 14.

Do you rent wedding dresses?

No, we do not. If you are a photographer, stylist, bridal expo coordinator or magazine please contact us at CamelliaSavannah@gmail.com as they may be available for shoots or fashion shows.

Can you ship my gown?

Yes, we have many destination brides in Savannah who want to buy their dresses here too, so we are happy to ship to you. Shipping usually runs around $40-60, including insurance, and we bill you after shipping so that we have the exact amount.

Do you have parking?

Camellia is in a charming Savannah neighborhood, with plenty of free street parking available.

Can we bring food and/or beverages?

We would prefer that you not bring any food into the shop. We will pop the bubbly for all when you say "Yes"!

What happens after I order my dress?

It can take 6-7 months to get a dress in, or it can come within a month if i'ts in stock, and we will let you know as soon as it's in! You can come pick it up, or store it here. We do have limited storage space, so dresses that need to be stored here for 3 months or more will incure a storage fee of $50, which you can pay online. We recommend starting your alterations 2-3 months before your wedding.
